Azkuna Zentroa – Alhóndiga Bilba and the University of the Basque Country - UPV/EHU launch the third edition of the Own Master's Degree in Practice and Theory in Contemporary Arts and Culture aimed at professionals, creators, researchers and students from the cultural and artistic field who are interested in the management and knowledge of a center such as Azkuna Zentroa – Alhóndiga Bilbao.
Azkuna Zentroa – Alhóndiga Bilbao promotes this collaboration with the university academic sphere as part of the strategy established in the 2019-2023 Project Programme to make the Centre a platform for access to contemporary culture. A meeting point that facilitates creation, thought, knowledge and professionalisation around current artistic production. A context where training is built from a framework of reality, observing how the most conceptual or theoretical decisions are transformed into tangible programming in a centre of contemporary society and culture.
The Master's Degree developed with the UPV/EHU provides the necessary training to understand the new reality of cultural production from an applied and innovative perspective, as it offers an intersection between theory and professionalisation, between academic rigour and day-to-day practice in a Cultural Centre such as the Alhóndiga. A space for the exchange of knowledge, with relevant artists and essential collaborators of Azkuna Zentroa, which is an incentive and a unique training opportunity.
The academic year is structured around eight seminars that deal with topics ranging from text and words to art supports, culture and rights, the creation of new audiences, curatorial practices, management and the importance of the archive. And four transversal areas related to professionalisation, debate, knowledge of the network and collective work, and a block that includes the Master's Thesis.
