Set somewhere on the contact point between sculpture and performance, “Shifter!” (a term linguistically referring to the gear lever) is a research and creation project focused on the detour, where sculptural situations and action are articulated in performance environments. It is just right there, in that detour instant, where “Shifter!” looks to take its place.
“Twist, stretch, suspend, force, grip and tense are verbs with which I try to activate material performance, understood as that sculptural situation generated with live forces. These live forces take place in bodily resistance, in the relationship between flexibility and mass, inertia or fatigue of the materials themselves prior to their collapse.”
